Apply to the Master's degree in Video Games & Interactive Media (JMIN)

If you have a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent OR if you are a professional with more than 3 years in the video game industry, you are welcome to apply to our Master's degree program.

If you are applying for the Game Design track in the Master's degree and would like to spend your 1st year in Montreal, find out more about the Cnam-Enjmin / NAD-UQAC School (Canada) Passerelle and submit an application in parallel with the Master's degree competition before Monday 15 January 2024 at 9am.

2024 Key Application Dates & Deadlines

  • Launch of admission subject: Thursday 14 December 2023 (3pm)

  • Deadline for applications for the Passerelle Cnam-Enjmin / École NAD-UQAC (only for candidates for the Game Design course): Monday 15 January 2024 (9am UTC+1)

  • Deadline for submitting applications online for the JMIN master's competition, all courses combined including Game Design: Thursday 25 January 2024 (3pm UTC+1)

  • Candidates admitted to the written exams will be published online: Friday 8 March 2024 (3pm UTC+1)

  • For initial training candidates admitted to the written tests: registration on the "My Master" platform before 24 March 2024.

  • Written tests (distance learning): Saturday 23 March 2024

  • Candidates admitted to the orals will be listed online: Thursday 25 April 2024 (3pm UTC+1)

  • Oral examinations (distance and/or face-to-face): from 13 to 17 May 2024

  • Admission to the master's programme: Thursday 30 May 2024 (3pm)

  • Admission to the NAD-UQAC DESS online: end of March 2024


Due to the specificity of the training, both technical and artistic, a recruitment procedure has been set up to evaluate the knowledge and motivation of candidates in the field of games and interactive media.

Whatever your status, your home institution, your nationality, etc., you MUST follow each step of the procedure described below (in addition to the Campus France procedure for foreign students).


Applying to the Master's degree

Level of education required and supporting documents to be provided

Required level of studies: a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent (applicants who have studied abroad must present a comparability statement from the ENIC-NARIC France Center)

  • If you don't have a Bachelor's degree you may apply for a Validation of Acquired Professional Skills (VAP)
  • If your degree is not recognized by ENIC-NARIC you may apply for a Validation of Higher Education Studies (VES)

Supporting documents

Please note all documents must be provided in French (certified translation):
Student status in 2023-2024 French Diplomas or Certificates other than a "Licence" European Union Diploma Diploma outside the European Union
Enrollment certificate mentioning the title of the diploma and its level of training Official degree + Certificate of recognition of education level (a minimum of 3 years of higher education) issued by the French Higher Education Institution in which the candidate studied Official degree + Certificate justifying the student obtained 180 ECTS Official degree + Comparability statement from ENIC-NARIC

For non-French speaking students: proof of a B2 level in French

"Creative Application File"

The aim of this creative application is to show an interest in and an aptitude for thinking, innovation and creation based around interactive media issues as they relate to the track being applied for, all in connection with the proposed subject.

There are no restrictions on the nature of the proposal: video game, cross-media work, Alternate Reality game, digital toy, interactive installation... or the nature of the platform envisaged (board game, game on PC, console, mobile phone or any mixed form).

Online Application only. As soon as all documents submitted have been reviewed you will receive an acknowledgement of receipt to confirm the registration of your application. In case we need more information you will be contacted by e-mail shortly.
Your "Creative Application File" will be examined by a panel of Cnam teachers.

"Administrative Application File"

  • An information sheet will have to be completed online
  • There are no applications fees


 If your "Creative File" application is successful

The list of eligible candidates to the remote written tests taking place on March 23, 2024 will be posted on our website on March 8, 2024 (3pm UTC+1).

The written tests consist of: 

  • The analysis of a linear or interactive audiovisual work
  • An English test
  • A Technical test according to the chosen track


 If you pass the written tests

The list of candidates admitted to the oral examinations will be published online on April 25, 2024 (3pm UTC+1).
Applicants will be invited for an oral interview (15 to 30 minutes) taking place in Angoulême between May 13 and 17, 2024.


If you pass the oral examination

The list of candidates admitted to the master's degree program will be published online on May 30, 2024 (3pm UTC+1).

Successful candidates will receive an e-mail confirmation afterwards as well as a registration form from mid-June 2024 onwards.
