Angoulême and the Charente department: a great place to live!

Angoulême is known as the ‘balcony onto South West France’. This historical town lies at the heart of an urban area of some 110,000 inhabitants

 

Angoulême is a medium-sized town (with a population of 110,000 inhabitants, suburbs included) with a very pleasant quality of life. People appreciate its cultural diversity and dynamism, the reasonable price of housing and mild climate. The town lives to the beat of its many festivals (International Comics Festival, French Language Film Festival, Musiques Métisses: Festival of world music…).

It has numerous cultural facilities: the International Centre for Comics and Images, the National Comics Museum, Angoulême Theatre, a concert venue, La Nef, the Conservatory for Music, Dance and Theatre,  the Regional Fund for Contemporary Art and is home to a multitude of creative talents. Employees of creative media companies, multimedia artists, comic strip authors, writers collectives and students from the seven schools that comprise the Image Campus live and work together in an environment which is conducive to creativity, exchange, research and innovation.
