Angoulême, a bustling creative town
The town of Angoulême is known as the ‘Balcony to Southwestern France’. Located in the Charente Department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, this medium-sized town has a population of around 110,000 inhabitants, including in its suburbs.
The quality of life for its inhabitants is very pleasant and tranquil. People appreciate Angoulême’s cultural diversity and dynamism, reasonable housing prices and, not forgetting, mild climate. The town lives to the beat of the many festivals that take place here, including the International Comics Festival, French Language Film Festival, Musiques Métisses: Festival of world music, etc.
The town boasts a very rich offer of cultural activities and installations: the International Centre for Comics and Images, the National Comics Museum, Angoulême Theatre, a concert venue, La Nef, the Conservatory for Music, Dance and Theatre, and the Regional Fund for Contemporary Art.
A wide array of creative talents call Angoulême home. Employees of creative media companies, multimedia artists, comic strip authors, writers’ collectives and students of Magelis Image Campus live and work together here. This mixing means that there is an environment conducive to creativity, exchange, research and innovation.
Cnam-Enjmin is also supported by the Crous (Centre régional des œuvres universitaires et scolaires). It is a regionally-based, yet centralised, administrative body, which ensures students have decent living conditions to help them succeed in their studies. They look after major aspects of student life, including finance (scholarships), health, university restaurants and student accommodation.
University Restaurants
Crous university restaurants (colloquially referred to as "RU") are accessible to students and staff at very reasonable prices. Meat, fish and vegetarian options are usually offered to cater to everyone’s tastes. Students typically pay €3.30 for a three-course meal (or even less if they receive a scholarship).
Some "RU"s are open for lunch and others open for both lunch and dinner. Some only open on weekdays (Mon-Fri) and some every day. It is best to check specific details on the Crous website.
Angoulême has 3 university restaurants, including one at Cnam-Enjmin, Brasserie le Nil, which provides weekday lunches. More information, including today’s menu, can be found here.

There is one Crous residence in Angoulême called L'Auberge espagnole (link in French) which is only available to students of Pôle Image Magelis.

Student Associations
Cnam-Enjmin's Student Office
Cnam-Enjmin’s student office is called ‘BDE’ (Bureau des étudiants). It supports and promotes student life at the school through a variety of activities and areas of expertise.
During the first week of the year, BDE organises an integration week with activities that combine discovering the city, sports and festivities.
It organises celebratory events marking important events during the school year, including the master’s students induction, Enjmin Game Conferences, master’s students leaving, end of year, etc.
BDE also organises fun activities in the student common room, volunteer classes and various themed evenings (Murder Party, Board Game Evenings, etc.).
Our students can also get involved in different events organised by other student-led clubs at Cnam-Enjmin, such as film club, board game club, video game tournament club, 3D club...

The Image Campus Student Association, known as CIA (Campus Image Angoulême), was born with the goal of encouraging exchanges between students from the various schools in the Pôle Image.
