The Jilin Animation Institute (JAI)
The International Master’s degree in Video Games and Digital Interactive Media is offered in partnership with The Jilin Animation Institute (JAI) in China.
The Jilin Animation Institute (JAI) was founded in June 2000 and is located in the city of Changchun in the Jilin Province (North-eastern China).
At present, JAI offers 32 undergraduate majors at 15 different schools, including The School of Animation Art, The School of Comics and The School of Game.
Among them, the Animation major has been recognised at a national level for its excellence. There are 5 majors, including Animation, Digital Media Art and Visual Communication Design, which are recognised as First-class National Undergraduate Majors.
There are currently over 13,000 undergraduate students enrolled in our schools.
JAI has been consistently named as a:
- National Animation Teaching and Research Base
- National Animation Industry Base
- National Cultural Industry Demonstration Base
- National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project Implementation Unit
In 2018, JAI was awarded ‘Best Animation and Comics Education Institution’ as part of the Culture and Art Award from the Chinese government.
In September 2022, JAI was approved as a National-Level School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Construction Unit.
In the ‘2024 International Animation School’ rankings published by the prestigious Animation Career Review, JAI ranked 44th in the world (excluding American universities) and 9th in Asia.
JAI values the characteristic of ‘Integration of Education, Research and Industry’ which aims to create a professional system that fully integrates technology and art, as well as industry and education.
As JAI’s practical teaching platform for education and industry, Jilin JAI Culture Arts Group Co. Ltd. has piloted four 3D animation series films (the most recent being ‘Frog Kingdom’) and has won many awards, including the National ‘Five One Project Award’ given as part of the Cultural and Art Award from the Chinese government. Other works, such as The Urban Legend of Computer, are currently in production.
