The XR-CREATIVE writing residency created by MagelisSyndicat Mixte of the Pôle Image in Angoulême, and Cnam-Enjmin aims to foster innovative narrative projects by using immersive and interactive technologies.

The residency is open to all authors working on French-language projects to help them finalise their script and refine their creative intentions. the aim is to develop an already structured project that has a strong idea and scenario, and to refine its graphic, sound and interactive universe. At the end of the residency, the authors are expected to produce a document detailing the project, their finalised scipt and all the information required in pre-production or prototyping.

4 authors will be hosted for a 3-week residency between 7th and 25th July 2025, which the jury chose from amongst 33 applications:

  • Alexis Vammé with 2.140, an immersive and interactive experience which plunges the user, watcher and actor into an underground mine to guide three trapped miners. The situation is a lot more complicated than just a simple rescue mission...
  • Anna Charrière with Bye bye biotope, an immersive and interactive documentary co-written with Charles Ayat. Inspired by science and poetry, the project offers a delicate exploration of several ecosystems which are often perceived as being abstract or too small to see: plankton, mycelium, pollinating organisms, posidonians, primitive soup.
  • Emilie Anna Maillet with Marivaux et Narcisse, an immersive experience inspired by “Jeu de l’amour et du hasard” (a French play, the title of which translates to "The Game of Love and Chance"), starting point for an exploration of the meanders of love and otherness in our time of hyper-individualism.
  • Elise Migraine with Tsanfleurona multi-player VR experience where participants play as a hiker on a glacier who suddenly witnesses an inexplainable phenomenon.

During their 3 weeks in Angoulême, the authors will have the opportunity to meet with several professionals working in the field of the visual image in Angoulême. They will be assisted by volunteer Cnam-Enjmin students: Visual Artists, Sound Artists, Game Designers and Ergonomists. They will each receive an allowance of €3,000. In March 2026, the authors will be invited to take part in Immersity in Angoulême, where they will have the possibility to present their pitch to video game producers.

The residency's partners are very happy to welcome these artists to Angoulême, a town that has received the label 'UNESCO Creative Town' and is buzzing with thousands of talented people working in the field of the visual image.
