Apply to the Master's degree in Video Games & Interactive Media

If you have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent OR if you are a professional with more than 3 years in the video game industry, you are more than welcome to apply to our Master's degree programme.

Important Information

Given that our Master’s programme is very specialised, both in technical and artistic aspects, applicants go through a competitive application and entrance exam process. This is to assess their knowledge, motivation and creativity in the fields of Video Games and Digital Interactive Media.

You must register to take part in the entrance exam by 16th January 2025 at 3pm (UTC+1). 

Please note that incomplete applications by this date will not be considered.

There are no application fees.

STAGE 1: ADMINISTRATIVE AND CREATIVE FILES

  • Online form with your personal information.
  • Language Level: For non-French students, proof of a B2 level in French.
  • Required level of studies: Bachelor's degree or equivalent
    • Applicants who have studied abroad must present a Statement of Comparability (Attestation de comparabilité) from the French ENIC-NARIC France Center. This is to ensure that the diploma issued in their home country meets our entry requirements. Please note that, although it is completed online, this process can still take several months. More details can be found here (in French).
    • If you don't have a Bachelor's degree, you may be elegible to apply for a Validation of Acquired Professional Skills (VAP).
    • If your degree is not recognised by the French ENIC-NARIC Centre, you may be elegible for a Validation of Higher Education Studies (VES).

Please note that all documents must be provided in French (with a certified translation if necessary):

Creative Dossier Application File

The aim of this creative application is to show an interest in and an aptitude for thinking, innovation and creation based around interactive media issues as they relate to the track being applied for, all in connection with the proposed subject.

There are no restrictions on the nature of the proposal: video game, cross-media work, Alternate Reality game, digital toy, interactive installation... or the nature of the platform envisaged (board game, game on PC, console, mobile phone or any mixed form).

Online publication of the 2025 "Creative Application File" topic: Monday, December 16, 2024 at 3pm (UTC+1)

Online Application only. As soon as all documents submitted have been reviewed you will receive an acknowledgement of receipt to confirm the registration of your application. In case we need more information you will be contacted by e-mail shortly.
Your "Creative Application File" will be examined by a panel of Cnam teachers.

 STAGE 2: WRITTEN TESTS

The list of shortlisted candidates for the written exams will be published online on our website on Wednesday 5th March 2025 at 3pm (UTC+1). the written tests will take place on Saturday 22nd March 2025.

The written tests consist of: 

  • English-language test
  • Analysis of a linear or interactive audiovisual work
  • Technical test according to the candidate's chosen specialisation

 If you pass the written tests

The list of candidates admitted to the oral examinations will be published online on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 3pm (UTC+1).  

Applicants will be invited for an oral interview (15 to 30 minutes) between May 21 to 23, 2025. 

If you pass the oral examination

The list of candidates admitted to the master's degree program will be published online on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 3pm (UTC+1). 

Successful candidates will receive an e-mail confirmation afterwards as well as a registration form from mid-June 2025 onwards.

International Applicants

We welcome applicants from all over the world. 

Please note that the first year of the Master's program is taught in French, while the 2nd year is taught in English. Access to the Master's program is compulsory from the1st year. It is not possible to apply directly for the second year. 

The Cnam-Enjmin has its own admission procedure. All national and international applicants must register to our competitive entrance exam. 

Entry requirements

  • Succesfully complete all stages of the JMIN Master's admission procedure: administrative file, creative file, written tests, oral examination (please refer to the calendar opposite) 

  • Proof of French proficiency (B2 level) 

Note on the Études en France platform: from this year onwards, candidates for the JMIN master's program no longer need to follow the EEF procedure in parallel with the entrance exam in order to be considered eligible for admission. If you wish to enter the Master's program, you must apply for the competitive entrance exam via our website. If you are selected at the end of the selection process (June 2025), you will need to connect with the Études en France platform to complete your pre-consular file.
