Cnam-Enjmin, the French National School for Video Games and Digital Interactive Media, and SO· Games, the association for video game professionals in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, have created a national-scale event for video games that is free and open to everybody.

SPAWN, the festival for experimental video games, is a 2-day event which sets itself apart from many other French and European events by focusing on an original theme that has so far received little attention: Experimental Video Games.

This theme brings together all the games that we don't usually hear about, which are made invisible in a video game market saturated by productions from big companies. The festival is going to highlight several original games: independent games with a creative originality, games that are not just for playing (games that explore society issues, games for culture...), interactive digital installations which require equipment that is difficult to install at home (artistic digital interactive pieces of work, large virtual reality spaces, impressive alternative controllers...).

SPAWN is also aimed at people for whom traditional video games are not accessible. This event is an opportunity to honour these people and present the latest innovations for them.

The 1st edition of SPAWN has Morgane Falaize, President of Women in Games France, as a patron. The event is organised over 2 days at Cnam-Enjmin :

  • Friday 28th April from 2pm: Afternoon for Professionals
  • Saturday 29th April: Open to the General Public
